Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center

Fong and Chan Architects

Project description

The Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital & Trauma Center (ZSFG) project consists of the design of a 284-bed, 9-story, general acute care hospital for the City and County of San Francisco. The new hospital provides a humanistic, culturally competent, and healing environment that incorporates leading practices of sustainable design, patient comfort, cost-effective construction and efficient hospital operation. ZSFG has been heralded as “the most beautiful hospital in the city.” The new design represents an investment in the patient population, helping patients feel cared for from the outset. Staff have given overwhelming testament about the positive impact of the design on patients’ improved outlook in the new setting. By providing an environment that addresses the well-being of patients, family and staff equally, an atmosphere of shared respect and calm leads to better patient outcomes and staff and family satisfaction.
