The interior is based on a couple with one-year-old boy .The client had only one specific wish:to create a multifunctional space and to maximize their space following the birth of their second child.This architectural and creative freedom therefore resulted in a project that is beautiful reflection of their personal style.
Under the reclaimed 3.6 meter ceiling, the new design concept comprises the addition of the new mezzanine , the alteration of the kitchen and the insertion of a multifunctional stairs that acts as a access to the child’s room, storage space, a chair when drawing the wall. This elegant, paper-thin staircase was constructed from 1.5cm steel inside but covered by wood outside that form a single structural and material entity, all clad in the same wooden slats.
The kitchen and central bar have been integrated into the living area to create more space for daily activity. Mommy can easily look after the boy while she is busy in the kitchen.
The new mezzanine used as the child’s room is particularly designing as a living platform which can put a lot of functional demands on the space. The requirements include toy-book-clothing storage, play area and a calm place to sleep . It also need to be adaptable and able to transform and change as the children grow up.This mezzanine has been also designed around geometric-shaped windows that creates a hide-and-seek playground, while also drawing natural light into the space.This addition cabin not only provides extra space ,but also generates a more interesting feeling of space in the existing area.
The master bedroom is enlivened by a gray-blue paint that complaints the warm Lily white and bright mint green exterior, and has a distinct atmosphere and choice of decorations.
