Moya Design Partners
Short description
Moya Design Partners is a local architecture and interior architecture firm founded by Paola Moya in 2017 to put community and clients’ needs at the center of the design process. Public and Civic projects have been essential pillars of our practice because they allow us to effect positive change through design. These have allowed us to transform the cities where we live and build a legacy of service.
One of MOYA’s first Public Projects was designing and renovating one of DCs most iconic urban landmarks: the Eastern Market Metro Park (EMMP) in Capitol Hill. MOYA led an A/E team that breathed life back into EMMP, transforming public space and providing Ward 1 residents with plenty of green and recreation space in the city’s heart.
Another landmark project we have had the privilege to work on as Women Owned Latinx-Owned firm is the site selection of the new Smithsonian Institution Museums: the National Museum of the American Latino and the Woman’s History Museum. In partnership with Ayers Saint Gross Architects, MOYA’s Urban Design team worked with the different stakeholders to provide a thorough analysis of the programmatic needs and the fit of over 15 sites on or around the National Mall.
MOYA is finishing the base building of the new District of Columbia Department of General Services headquarters in Northeast DC. The 257,000 SF building will serve as the core of a development hub that aims at bringing commercial spaces, residential opportunities, and economic development to a historically neglected community. MOYA is also developing interior architecture and environmental graphic design for this project, where the design team integrated the history of the city and its diverse communities in the design, creating a building that celebrates the richness of the District of Columbia and projects it into the future.
MOYA’s design teams, whether it is Urban Design, Architecture, or Interior Design, have demonstrated a commitment to delivering excellent public projects that serve the community and elevate the spaces.
