Humaniti

Lemay

Short description

Located at the crossroads of four distinct neighbourhoods in Montreal’s downtown core, Humaniti represents the city’s first smart vertical community with exceptional mixed-use purposing that harmonizes with surrounding public space it creates anew. Pushing the limits of biophilic design and sustainable development through a human-centered approach, Humaniti offers varying degrees of interactivity across its 39 floors, while its architecture enters a dialogue with its city through spatiality and porosity that shifts according to elevation and building depth. The complex’s sculptural, needle-like shape is like none other within the city.

Humaniti’s rich inner activity reflects the city while outwardly enhancing it: Combining a luxury hotel, condo and rental units, offices, restaurants, and boutiques in one unique H-shaped structure of honed and polished granite and reflective-transparent glass, activity runs throughout at a steady inhale-exhale rhythm. This level of energy is reinforced in the larger of its two towers’ design, where residential units and their balconies are brought together in a honeycomb pattern that evokes the buzzing hive of a city within the city. On its highest levels, the altitude opens to grand views of a city and its natural landmarks of Mount Royal and the St. Lawrence River. Down below on street level, Humaniti merges the metropolitan with the pedestrian through the centerpiece of an expansive urban plaza linked to a major park, where notions of space and place together with landscaped greenery and art.

With its rigorously researched designs for living spaces centered on users’ well-being and health, Humaniti’s rental condos were awarded a WELL Silver certification—the first residential project to do so in Canada. Humaniti offers ample access to culture and art based on organic forms known to reduce stress and enhance concentration, abundant natural light, and a wealth of social spaces and fitness to encourage interactions and movement.
