Short description
This is a single residence located in Tainan, Taiwan, which is close to the highway. The client was looking for a home away from the corporate life but still have space for people to visit her to stay. It features minimalism style with contrasting black and white cubes that creates a minor suspension effect. The steel façade extends to the outside pillars, creating a uniform aesthetic. The building's suspension and facades do not need open windows to solve the problem of the intense western sun.
The low-density entrance of the property allows the natural landscape planting to become a part of life. A wide-open style living room is connected to a guest bathroom on the first floor. The tree species are planted in a courtyard, maintaining the ideal of species diversity and preserving the ecological environment. The living space is surrounded by a planted landscape courtyard. You will definitely enjoy the idea of living in a “forest”. The light enters the space and adds perspective using U-shaped glass as a barrier to the facade, adding a sense of privacy. The natural penetration of light and shadow over time, floor-to-ceiling windows, natural grass slope, and tree layer combine to show the movement of light and shadow. They become a part of daily life.
The simplicity of the building greatly reduces interior decoration and the carbon emissions. Great non-reflective decorative materials allow light and shadow to stay in the space without causing random scattering artificial light sources. People living in the space can feel the changes of light.
The idea for this house was inspired by the story of the client and their desires for the future. I hope to satisfy clients’ needs and reduce the pollution to the natural environment.
