About My Work:
My goals as a creator and photographer are to observe and document, ideally having as little influence as possible on the scene(s) in question. In this body, I document a friend's apartment before they leave Winnipeg to start a new chapter in Vancouver.

In contrast to my commercial photographic work with its many outside pressures and constraints, my personal work is purposely unencumbered; this allows me to return multiple times to the same site(s) in pursuit of a specific moment, condition, or frame. I enjoy the challenge of bringing the imagined to life, with the image standing in as a single frozen moment in time.

Owing to preference and influenced by my formal training in architecture, my work is often orthogonal and direct, with secondary and tertiary elements acting to complement the primary subject matter. In this way, the viewer is offered a variety of opportunities to develop their own narrative of the chosen scene.

About Jacqueline:
Jacqueline Young (she/her) is an award-winning Treaty 1-based Architectural Photographer at Stationpoint Photographic and a Sessional Instructor in the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba. Her enthusiasm for documentation comes from her fondness for the technical nature of the photographic process, in pursuit of expressing the novel experience of light and people moving through the built environment. The focus of her practice is to capture what is present, rather than chasing 'the ideal.'

Her passion and respect for the built environment, combined with her attention to detail and collaborative approach to working with clients has landed Young's work in publications such as Canadian Architect Magazine, Canadian Interiors Magazine, THE PLAN, Architectural Review, Archinect, Architizer, and Archdaily. In both 2021 and 2022, her work was recognized with Canadian Architect Photo Awards of Merit, and she was recently listed in the international APALMANAC Early Career and Emerging Talent Award competition.
